About
An institution being built for the wealth that already exists.
Opes is being organized as a proposed Nevada-chartered retail trust company in organization for founders, investors, business owners, and internationally connected families—without displacing their existing advisors.
Opes is in organization. It is not chartered and does not currently provide fiduciary services.
Why we are building it
The trust industry consolidated around a model that assumes marketable securities, simple structures, and a single institution holding everything.
Modern private wealth does not look like that. It is founder stock that has not liquefied, fund interests with a decade of capital calls remaining, an operating business three siblings disagree about, a family LLC holding property, and a beneficiary who moved abroad. It is advised by an attorney, an RIA, a CPA, and often a family office—all of whom the family intends to keep.
Those families are routinely told their structures are too complicated to administer, or that the price of a corporate trustee is handing over the portfolio. We think that is a failure of institutional design, not an unavoidable feature of fiduciary administration.
Opes is being organized to be the institution that accepts the case, documents the responsibilities, and works alongside the people already advising the family.

Principles
What we intend to be.
Independent
No proprietary products, no affiliated asset manager, no incentive to gather assets.
Advisor- and attorney-aligned
The referring professional keeps the relationship. That is a design constraint, not a courtesy.
Institutional
Policies, controls, audit, and continuity that outlast any individual.
Transparent
Published acceptance standards, a clear fee philosophy, and a documented record of decisions.
Technologically enabled
Modern workflows for people who are tired of PDFs, fax numbers, and phone tag.
High-touch
Named people who understand the family. Technology serves the relationship, not the reverse.
Boundaries
What we are not.
Clarity about what an institution does not do is as important as clarity about what it does. Opes is being organized as a trust company and nothing else.
- A robo-advisor
- An asset manager
- A bank
- A custodian
- A law firm
- A tax advisory firm
- A consumer estate-planning app
- A mass-market trust product
- A replacement for the client's existing RIA or attorney
Nevada
Why a Nevada charter.
Nevada's trust statutes are among the most developed in the United States for directed structures, long-duration trusts, and flexible governance.
Directed trust framework
Statutory recognition of investment and distribution directors.
Duration
365-year permitted perpetuities period for multi-generational planning.
No state income tax
Nevada imposes no state income tax on trusts.
Decanting and modification
Established statutory tools for adapting older structures.
General information about Nevada law, not legal or tax advice. Applicability depends on the instrument, the parties, and the family's circumstances.
Leadership and organizing group
Leadership, board, and organizing group details will be published as appointments are finalized in connection with the charter application.
We will not publish names, titles, or credentials before they are settled. Anything less would misrepresent the state of the institution.
