Opes is a proposed Nevada-chartered retail trust company in organization. It is not chartered and does not currently provide fiduciary or trustee services.

Solutions

Private Capital & Alternative Assets

A trustee that cannot meet a capital call on time is a liability to the family and to the fund. Alternative-asset administration is a discipline, not an accommodation.

Descriptions on this page reflect a proposed service model. Opes is not chartered and does not currently provide fiduciary services.

Overview

Venture, private equity, private credit, and direct co-investments carry obligations that outlast most trustee relationships. Our proposed service model treats capital calls, distributions, and reporting as core administration rather than an exception.

Where the complexity sits

  • Capital call funding, deadlines, and default provisions
  • Subscription documents, side letters, and transfer consents
  • K-1 timing, unrelated business taxable income, and state filings
  • Valuation lag and stale net asset value reporting
  • Multiple funds held across multiple trusts and entities
  • Secondary sales and general-partner-led continuation vehicles

Proposed approach

How we intend to administer it.

01

Commitment tracking

Unfunded commitments, projected calls, and liquidity reserves are intended to be visible to the family and the advisor in one place.

02

Directed structures

Investment selection may remain with the family's investment advisor or an investment director where the instrument so provides.

03

Document discipline

Subscription packages, side letters, and consents are intended to be retained as part of a permanent fiduciary record.

04

Coordinated tax workflow

K-1 collection and delivery to the family's CPA is treated as a scheduled obligation of the administration.

Working with the existing team

The family's investment advisor continues to select and monitor managers. Opes would administer the interests, fund the calls, and maintain the record, subject to the governing instrument and applicable law.

Opes does not provide legal, tax, investment, or accounting advice. Whether any structure described here can be administered depends on the governing instrument, applicable law, fiduciary acceptance, and receipt of regulatory authorization.

Bring us the trust cases that do not fit neatly anywhere else.
